Grape


Tekirdağ is one of the provinces with the most cultivated areas according to its surface area. Süleymanpaşa is one of the luckiest districts of Tekirdağ in terms of agricultural areas. The rate of arable land is 80 percent. 'Onion, watermelon, cherry and grape' are among our priority products.  

 

Growing Conditions of Grapes

Grape, which is a clinging plant of the Vitis genus of the Asmagiller family, is one of the oldest fruit species cultivated on earth. Grapes, which are very rich in nutritional values, contain plenty of B and C vitamins.
It is the most widespread fruit in our country and the most abundant in terms of its amount. It is resistant to cold and its fruit is consumed as a snack and used in wine making.
Table Grape Varieties
 
Cardinal: It is an early maturing grape variety. It grows towards the end of July.
 
Yapıncak: It is popularly known as 'henna pastry'. It is a local and table grape type. Harvest period is September and October.
 
Alphonse: The harvest period of this black grape variety, which is colloquially called Alfonos, is the second half of August and September.
 
Kürt Grape: It is a domestic type of table grape.
 
Çavuş Grape: The harvest period of this white grape type is the first half of August.
 
Muscat: The harvest period of this white grape type is the first half of August. 
 
Wine Grape Varieties
 
Gamay: This black grape variety of French origin is used to produce a high quality wine. Harvest period is the beginning of September.
 
Semilon: The harvest of this white grape variety, which is colloquially referred to as "simyon", is in September and October.
 
Karalahana: The harvest period of this black-colored local grape variety is October.
 
Cinsaut: The harvest period of this black grape, which is of French origin, colloquially called "Şensu", is in September and October.
