Rüstempaşa Mosque

It is on Mimar Sinan Street in Ertuğrul district. It was built in 1554 by Grand Vizier Damat Rüstem Pasha (1500-1561), the son-in-law of Suleiman the Magnificent. It is the work of Mimar Sinan. It is one of the most beautiful mosques in Tekirdag. It is made of cut limestone. The minaret with a single balcony is on the right of the mosque. The entrance door is inlaid with ivory on walnut wood. Door and window wings are decorated with geometric motifs. The round, 5-column marble fountain in the garden was built during the reign of Abdülmecit. The library, bath and madrasah in the east are in ruins. The covered bazaar with 6 domes on the west is intact and was restored in 1965 by the General Directorate of Foundations. The tomb of Rüstem Pasha, who had the mosque built, is in the garden of the Şehzade Mosque in Istanbul. On the side of the mosque facing the Sea of Marmara, a bazaar was built by our Governor's Office as a covered bazaar.

There is no decoration other than the plaster relief flowers and wreaths on the dome. It is a simple structure. The mihrab with muqarnas should be rectangular. The side mirrors and balustrades of the marble pulpit have geometric motifs. The mosque gained a bright appearance with the walls of the main space and the windows on the dome drum. The arched entrance of the polygonal body, single balcony minaret in the northwest is to the right of the crown door.
