It is an old Greek village. Some old Greek tourists have said that the village was established when they and their father first settled in the village.

It is 20 km away from Süleymanpaşa.

There are historical monuments and monastery ruins in the monastery area, located on the sea shore and in the valley between two mountains. The view of the Marmara Sea and the islands creates a wonderful view in Yeniköy, where paragliding is the best place. The economy of a village depends on agriculture and husbandry. There is a primary school in the village, but besides it cannot be used, transported education is used. The village has drinking water network, but there is no sewerage system. There is no PTT branch or PTT agency. There are no health centers. The road that provides access to the village is asphalt and there is electricity and fixed telephone in the village. The population in 2019 is 144 people.
